We believe that there are two key factors in achieving successful computerisation of a care record system: The first is to replicate
the current manual records by providing software that allows the user to define their major care record sets. The second is to
accept that care is not performed in front of a computer screen, carers often have little computer experience and therefore carers
need an easy method to view and enter care data around the home.
care-Log+ was created with these principles and has carried
these forward as new hardware options have presented themselves for adding further flexibility to this concept. The following
hardware can now be used with care-Log+.
The 10.4" industrial quality touch screen terminal can be sited on a wall and connected by wi-fi or ethernet cable link back to a
PC/network.
An integrated fingerprint reader gives complete security over record access and entry. Clear screen prompts enable
the authorised user to view and record information easily. Integration with our care-Log+ software gives the following functionality:
-
Photograph
display of service user together with their key details such as room, age, next of kin contacts, GP, medical overview, etc
-
All Medication
details
-
Care Plans and evaluations
-
Carer timesheet attendance recording by fingerprint reader
-
Access by authorised Relative(s) to care
plan and medication details
-
Access by Service User to care plans and options for meal selections and activities
A palmtop computer provides complete mobility to access and record care information anywhere within and outside the home. Using
a touch screen, carers can view key information such as relative contact and GP details, medication and essential health checks. Definable
daily care notes and care plan evaluations can be performed and recorded. There are three options available in easyLog's palmtop range
- on-line palmtop, smartphone and mobile phone.
On-line palmtop computer
This wireless (wi-fi) PDA (or any smartphone with Windows Mobile Version 6 or above) operates on-line and
therefore automatically returns and receives new information as it is entered. It requires an 802.11b/g WLAN standard wireless network
to be in position to operate in this mode. In addition to the functionality described above, this model allows care plans to be reviewed
and updated together with risk and health assessments. The palmtop unit can also be operated without a wireless connection and
update by USB cable.

Mobile Care Recording: Palmtop computers (PDAs), Smartphones and Mobile Phones
Mobile phone (Symbian OS)
This option may be useful to any supervisory or on-call staff working away from the primary care location
where access to service user information is required on an infrequent basis. Alternatively using a carer's mobile phone may present
a low cost option if carers are frequently involved in community-based activities and need to record and view care records. Any
mobile phone running the Symbian operating system (typically Nokia and Sony Ericsson) can be uploaded with the care-Log+ software
and utilise the same functionality as described for the on-line palmtop computer. Updated information can be sent and received
in realtime using the WAP facilities on the phone and if GPS is available.
Smartphone
easyLog's PDA software can also be operated on any Smartphone that is running the Windows Mobile Version 6 or above operating
system.
